The Shed

If you are looking for a cute brunch spot to take the girls look no further! For the past two months every time sister and I wanted to go to breakfast she would hound me to make the trek out to Sayville and take her to The Shed. Now, for those of you that know me I would basically go to the ends of the earth for a good cup of coffee and a fluffy set of pancakes. However, if it’s not my idea I tend to turn into a 90 year old woman who doesn’t want to leave the warmth and comfort of her king size bed.
With the Christmas spirit in the air I mustered up the strength to pull myself out of the house and go with her. For the extra adventure and fun we invited my cousin and her two adorable little girls (that I am absolutely obsessed with).
But enough about me, let’s talk about actual experience! Below are my top 5 things you would need to know when going to The Shed.

  1. Go early! With a table of 4 and a highchair we didn’t have to wait…but we got there 15 minutes before they opened #overachievers.
    1. Additionally don’t go on Monday because they won’t be there, AKA they are closed  😉
  2. The lifeline also known as COFFEE. I feel confident to say that I am not a snob about most things…except coffee. And if I am being honest the coffee here was subpar. First, they only offer whole milk or almond milk for your coffee. This doesn’t affect me as much but for those half and half lovers this can be an issue. Second, the coffee was a bit watery in my opinion and was missing some flavor to it. Let me finish off by saying it wasn’t bad. I would probably still order it if I went back because coffee it is how I survive, but I definitely would not be going there for the coffee alone.
  3. The Booze. If you like brunch cocktails these ones are the way to your heart! I got the Farmers Gin and literally went to the grocery store right after to buy all the ingredients to try and replicate it (and I didn’t do half bad if I don’t say so myself).
  4. Food. The Shed is a brunch spot but we only ordered breakfast and, honestly, it was well worth getting out of my warm blanket for! The biscuits are a MUST…seriously go just for these! They were flaky and warm and just heavenly carbs. I also ordered the green scramble (I got a few side eyes from my loved ones when I ordered this) and it was probably one of the best omelettes I have ever had. I love veggies in my eggs and this was the dream! I subbed out the cheese for feta because I am annoying like that. We also tasted the pancakes and they were fluffy clouds! I did feel like they could have possibly had more flavor but worth it for the fluff.
  5. The Ambiance! I mean cute doesn’t describe this place. When you pull up it looks like an old historical house and I AM HERE FOR IT! From the moment we walked in we were greeted with the friendliest employees and smiles. If you enjoy a cozy and homey spot to go to for brunch then this is the atmosphere for you.

Get out there and see it for yourself…but when you do be sure to let us know your thoughts!
